These sheep develop a thick, dense wool that protects them from the low temperatures and arid mountain landscape. Their ability to adapt to these conditions results in fibres that are strong, elastic and exceptionally warm.

Afghan wool is renowned for its ruggedness and durability, sourced from sheep adapted to harsh climatic conditions. Its fibers tend to be coarser, making it ideal for creating resilient rugs that withstand wear and tear. This fiber is often used in kilims, adding an aged and textured look to the rugs.

Afghan wool has a natural colour palette that includes shades from whites and creams to greys, browns and blacks. These tones are ideal for undyed products – such as some of our models – that seek to bring out the natural beauty of the fibre.
